Testimonials
Tunnelling Solutions have excavated and lined a complex 30m long pedestrian tunnel under four live railway tracks with very low cover for us. They have shown great professionalism and have always worked with us cooperatively to get the best outcome for the project. Harry is a great leader to the workforce, is very safety conscious and is solution driven. His drive to perform and continuously improve was successfully instilled to his team and enabled a breakthrough ahead of schedule and without any incident.
Craig was very helpful in preparing the contract scope and optimising the delivery model. He also admirably administered the contract in the delivery phase.
In summary, Tunnelling Solutions promised they could excavate a complex tunnel safely and efficiently, and they did. Beyond our expectations. I would consider them for my next tunnelling project.

I would highly recommend them based on their collaborative and professional approach to works carried out at Arncliffe. They were a key reason we managed to turn around a 5 month delay on the project and open the tunnel on time.

Tunnelling Solutions successfully completed the design and construction of a 70 metre tunnel for the North East Program Alliance. The works were carried out adjacent to a live railway and alongside an existing brick tunnel constructed in the early 1900’s. Their involvement within the early works of the project was invaluable resulting in a design which was constructible and optimised for the ground conditions at hand. The works involved a heading and benching methodology to minimise disturbance to the adjacent tunnel and jacking a series of ~300mm canopy tubes, each approximately 36m long, to enable the support of the crown of the tunnel directly underneath sensitive services such as gas and water. The works were carried out professionally and collaboratively throughout and I would gladly recommend Tunnelling Solutions for any future works.

Thank you for this and overall thank you for a great job on the decline study. We were in a difficult place at the time I reached out to you with little confidence in the work completed to date by the consultant we had working on it and even greater concern that the work going forward would be of poor quality, unreliable and potentially wrong. You stepped in with a minimum of fuss and great professionalism and delivered a quality job in the tight timeframe. Everyone in Newcrest involved with this work are extremely happy with what you delivered and the common comment from them is “Thank God you brought Craig in when you did!”

I wanted to write to you to express my greatest gratitude to yourself, Craig, and the Tunneling Solutions site team for your immense effort in assisting the NorthConnex project to complete our tunneling and associated works. Firstly the technical experience and willingness to share years of accumulated knowledge, allowed us to complete this scope successfully. From the outset Tunneling Solutions brought valuable insights as to where project improvements could be made, combined with a “can-do” attitude, and input with training and specialist application technics, positive results were realized. Harry, I look back at the project at the time you walked it with me and I look at it now, we have come a long way, we are on track for our hand over to commissioning and the de mob of our tunnel and civil activities is almost complete. I want to mention the Tunneling Solutions site team, in particular Matt Lyle and Todd Shillito, one of our requirements was to introduce strong leadership, and with these two guys we certainly got that, they led your team of experienced shotcreters and workforce in general to create a culture of ownership, problem solving ideas, and above all, a positive safety culture, these type of guys are hard to source in our industry let alone in the current boom, much appreciated mate, will be looking you up on the next project and look forward to another successful outcome, many thanks for your contribution.

Congrats on a successful breakthrough!
From a health & safety point of view, I just wanted to say thank you for keeping Sydney Metro involved and informed throughout the lifecycle of the adit works. This included methodology reviews, attendance at PTTs, collective insights and onsite task observations. I believe this early and ongoing collaboration led to a good understanding of the work method, little/no commentary on documentation and a positive working relationship between Sydney Metro, Laing O’Rourke and Tunnelling Solutions.

Tunnelling Solutions have successfully delivered a 70m long pedestrian tunnel which encountered mass concrete backfill supporting an extremely sensitive heritage building immediately above the tunnel. This complication required a bespoke support methodology not necessarily attempted previously in Australia. This required careful consideration and constant collaboration between all parties. The tunnel was completed efficiently and executed with precision with no impact to the heritage building above the tunnel crown resulting in a resounding success for the project. Overall the works were completed professionally, collaboratively and maintained a high level of integrity in all dealings. I am grateful for all their efforts on the project and will look forward to working with the Tunnelling Solutions team on my next tunnel

Tunnelling Solutions stands out among the top three contractors I’ve collaborated with throughout my career as a Civil Engineer. The successful completion of the McKay Headrace Tunnel Repairs project is a testament to their commitment to safety, particularly in the face of numerous unforeseen challenges. Notably, the project involved the unexpected challenge of identifying and safely disposing of explosives from the tunnel’s construction. Working within a 1950’s rock-lined headrace tunnel added an extra layer of complexity. Where 95% of the project duration was providing safe access to remediate a rockfall.
What truly set Tunnelling Solutions apart was the collaborative spirit of the site crew. Their openness and proactive approach in mitigating delays, overcoming challenges, and ultimately achieving the best possible project outcomes.
Well done Tunnelling Solutions it was a great project!
